P52 – Two Birds, One stone!

Wrote this draft last week – forgot to post! Whoops!
Got two weeks done today! We had our morning walk, and playtime at the park. I’ve started tucking my camera in the stroller every once in a while. Sometimes I get a shot or two, sometimes I get lots, and sometimes I forget the memory card at home and get none. 🙂 Oops.

Week 27 – Red, White and Blue
I had trouble with this one – there were a lot of American flags on the photography forum. This morning it hit me. Mr. B’s shoes. They’ve fit him forever. I’ll be sad when he grows out of them. (And this stroller, for that matter.)

Week 28 – Shadow as subject
First I was taking pics of B’s shadow on the swing – he’s just started using the “big kid” swing. It steals my heart every time. He’s still him – super cautious. He asks for the tiniest of pushes, and its adorable. Then, just as we were leaving, he picked up a dandelion. He loves blowing them everywhere. I snapped this one, and I love it.

Runner up:

Now I can get to the photos I took yesterday during baby pool time!

Project 52: Week 25 – Slow Down

I’m down one more week! A new one starts today, so I’m still behind two weeks. It’ll get there!

This week was Slow Down. Shutter speed that is. I had trouble with this one. I attempted it with the kiddos, but just got blurs (when I was trying to keep a part of the image in focus). The other day we were out on the deck and I decided to take a crack at a still object, and use the zoom on my lens for movement. I still didn’t get part of the plan in focus (I would have needed to use a tripod I don’t own), but I love how it turned out. Love the colour and swirls. Dreamy.

Here’s a still.

Will be back with the next themes: Mulligan, and Red, white & Blue.

11 months and counting. (And P52)

Insert the tears here. Time flies and we’re along for the ride.

I took these of Miss E last week. These are two of my favourites. I feel like I still need to master white balance. But I know I’m learning. I tackled colour casts this week, and I’m getting better at evening skin tone and a few other things. And contrast. My nemesis.

Miss E almost a year:

And because I can’t forget Mr B, I think these are both last week or so:

I submitted that first picture for the Project 52 this week. The theme was “Photographers Choice”.

Project 52: Week 14 – Food

This week’s theme was food. We were supposed to take the last few weeks into consideration – light, composition, etc, and be able to practice with something that wouldn’t move. Therefore we could pause and think before taking the shot.

I experimented with two of the last purees we have in the house. Baby girl is well onto solid food, and puree is almost in our past. Seemed right to capture this moment in our lives. Love those shiny glass dishes and yummy smelling fruit.

This is the image I submitted. I love the water-like shadow/reflection.

This was my second favourite:

This week’s theme: Street Photography… we’ll see what happens. 🙂

P52: Week 8 – Low Light

Ugh. Low light. Bite me.
I’ve seen all these beautiful photographs taken with little or no light in the room, and they’re sharp and clear and beautiful. I decided to start with inanimate objects this week. (Well.. Fin isn’t inanimate, but boy is he better at sitting still than my kids. Even when I’m shining an ipad in his face.) Hee hee.

Here are my top two. Much more practise needed

New theme starts Wed. 🙂

Project 52: A Weekly Photography Challenge

In January I started a Project 52 on a photography forum I’m on. Each week has a theme, and you are to capture an image around that theme. (Or not, if you’re really rocking something else that week) The purpose is to get you shooting more regularly, to inspire creativity and to get you out of your ‘box’. (I’m not sure I had a box to begin with.)
So we’re on week 8. Which I haven’t done yet. I just thought I’d catch you up with the last 7 weeks. I’m definitely happier with some more than others.

Week 1: You: A Self Portrait

Week 2:House on Fire (what would you grab?)

Week 3: Your favourite

Week 4: Your town. (I hate this one. It was cold and rainy and I never got out to where I wanted to go. This is a cop out. Its a shed that was across the street from a date E and I had.

Week 5: Candid Image

Week 6: Side Light (This begins the month on light, which has been kicking my tush!)

Week 7: Backlight

This week is low light. Ugh. Not my (or my camera’s) forte. We shall see what we cook up. 🙂
